Sticky Sounds and Gumball Words!

I'm so excited about my new products that I have been working on!

I just posted the first two of 12 units on letter/sound and sight word mastery!  Each unit has 14 activities based around a gumball theme.

The first unit focuses on mastering letter identification and sounds.  It includes 145 pages of cards, games, and activities for students to work on at their own pace during word work, reading, and free choice times.  Once they master their letters, students earn their gumball machine.  I laminate these (so I can use them again because it's a lot of ink, card stock, laminating and cutting!).  These are placed on a bulletin board (pictures coming soon, i swear!). They then move onto their first set of sight words.

The sight word units each consist of 20 words.  Each list is a different color, the first being Red Words.  The Gumball Word units are almost 100 pages long with activities for students to work on at their own pace.  The word list goes home and students are encouraged to practice at home too.  Once students master a set of words, they earn the corresponding gumball color for their gumball machine as well as a certificate of mastery to take home with their next set of words.

I am looking forward to putting activities in my word work bins for my students to use during stations.  They can just choose the color for the list of words they are currently working on!  I'm hoping this will motivate my students to practice their sight words and earn their gumballs!

I've posted the first 2 units tonight and plan on having the next two up each week for your high flyers to work on!

Math and Literacy Stations

This year I plan on implementing Debbie Diller's Math Workstations.  It's a great resource and I'm excited to try it out this year!

To get ready for my stations, I made a few labels for my new 3-drawer plastic bins.  I used to use baskets, but I am hoping that this will be a better way to organize my stations!

Students can choose from 8 math stations weekly and 10 literacy stations. I updated my station choice cards to include math this year.  Students check off each station (2 a day) with a dry erase marker as they make their choice.  We erase the laminated cards every Monday.   This worked really well last year!

Printing and Cutting and Laminating, OH MY!

Wow....I worked on so many projects today!  I love when I get a chance to get new things ready for my classroom!  I finally printed out some of my TPT products to hang in my classroom.

I printed so much that I ran out of new ink, took a trip to Office Max, and continued working when I got back.  After using over 100 sheets of laminating, I decided that I needed a break!

Here's what I accomplished today:

In an effort to make reading more exciting, I started a collection of Book Buddies!

Sub Tub - I don't have anything ready for inside yet.  For now, it's housing my new fabric to recover my pillows for my reading corner!

I finally made Whisper Phones!  I've been wanting to do this for a while now and I'm so excited to have them completed!  (Thanks to my great boyfriend for cutting all of the PVC pipe!)

New labels for baskets of supplies

  Chevron Mini Poster Sets

Chevron Clip It! Behavior Chart - I still need to put it together.  My book rings are in my classroom..

Labels for my picture book bins and supplies

I stopped at Target and found these awesome nerd glasses!  These are going to be great for getting my kiddos excited about reading and finding new words!  I picked these up at Target in the Dollar Spot!

I've been up after 2:00 am two nights in a row but I am finally getting some projects done!

Stay tuned for A LOT more...!

Crazy Week and New Product

It's been a crazy week!  I started this blog and was so excited to get more up here and I ran out of time!  I have been having fun but I have been busy, busy, busy!

I made a trip to IKEA on Friday!  I can't get enough of that place!  I bought a few items to put in my classroom that I am super excited about!  I always run out of storage and shelves in my classroom, so I picked up 2 of these shelves to lay on the side and put under my dry erase board in the front of my room.  I'm hoping that it will add a lot of storage without taking up much room!

I also picked up this cart...love it!  I've been thinking about it since the last time I went to IKEA!  I have no idea how I am going to use it but it's so super cute!

I added a new product to my TPT shop!  Check it out below.

This can be printed and copied for individual handwriting practice.  It can also be printed in color, placed in a binder with page protectors and added to a station to practice with dry erase markers.  Click on the image to check it out at my TPT shop!

Sight Word Practice

It always amazes me to see how much growth kindergarten students have from August to June!  One thing my kiddos seem to pick up on so quickly is learning sight words.  We practice them in tons of different fun ways, and they get really excited every time I introduce a new word!

I just finished up a few practice packets for the sight words that we use for kindergarten in my district.  I also made a word wall pack including 220 Dolch words from pre-primer through second grade.  The words for each item are listed on TPT.  Click the links below to preview the items!

Teachers Pay Teachers

I love reading other teachers' blogs!  There are so many amazing, experienced teachers out there and I get so many great ideas for my classroom and lesson planning.  I get a lot of my ideas from another kindergarten teacher, Deedee Wills.  Check out her blog at http://www.mrswillskindergarten.com/.

Thanks to some great teachers and the help of Teachers Pay Teachers, I feel that I am a better teacher.  I just recently decided to try some of this out myself.  I have been busy over the past few weeks coming up with some items of my own to post on TPT. Check out a few below!
